I Can Finally Imagine The Big Wedding Of My Dreams At This One Aruban Destination

This new 5-star resort might just be the place I host my dream wedding — one day.

I Can Finally Imagine The Big Wedding Of My Dreams At This One Aruban Destination

The Caribbean Islands are full of dreamy, escape-worthy wedding locations, but there’s one that clearly stands out from them all — Aruba. Located just a short four-hour flight from New York, and even closer to southern cities like Miami, this Dutch country delivers on local sites, friendly people, and delicious food. There are a number of resorts to explore as well, including casino-filled wonders for gamblers, and more artsy beach hotels for those who crave the white sand under their feet.

Stay at JOIA Aruba by Iberostar

JOIA Aruba by Iberostar is the latest addition to the latter category, boasting an impressive property right on Eagle Beach. The five-star boutique hotel offers 240 well-designed suites, each featuring beige and blue accents, with marine life–themed wallpaper adorning the walls. You’ll find an expansive balcony with a private bathtub (and all the bath salts you need) for a relaxing night watching the sunset. Some suites also come with a semi-private pool that’s open day and night — perfect for a couple looking to celebrate in private.

The main highlight of the hotel, though, is its bridal offerings. Couples can choose from a beachfront ceremony, a private ceremony by the resort's adults-only infinity pool, or the indoor 10,000-square-foot convention center. JOIA prides itself on customizing the experience uniquely to each bride, and I knew the second I saw the altar set up by the infinity pool, the sun glowing orange in the background, that this would be the perfect location if I ever decide to walk down the aisle. JOIA offers multiple wedding packages, suited for both intimate ceremonies and lavish celebrations. Their Nature of Love package is a favorite, thanks to its sustainable, nature-focused theme filled with florals, candlelight décor, and a matching dinner reception. JOIA Aruba also provides officiants, a wine toast, and complimentary upgrades and spa discounts to the couple (when available), making it well worth the money you're putting down. Packages start for as little at $1,600, giving couples of every budget an opportunity to enjoy the wedding of their dreams.

The Bridal Suite is one of the hotel’s signature offerings. It features multiple dressing tables, bottles of sparkling wine, light refreshments, and a space to unwind before the big day. It’s a special opportunity to bring together your closest family members or bridesmaids and take a moment to breathe before the excitement begins. My favorite part was the en suite hair and makeup area. They had everything from a hair washer to studio lights to get glam-ready. There’s also ample space to move around, and of course a giant closet where the bride can don her wedding gown — no matter how big or fluffy.

When it’s time to walk down the aisle, the bride can book a photographer, videographer, or both, with the hotel offering options depending on the couple’s style. Hidden glances, first kisses, and the bouquet toss are all moments captured to cherish for years to come.

The seated reception dinner will be the highlight for most, though JOIA Iberostar has distinct restaurants and bars, with a luxe steakhouse slated to open in late 2025. Dinner menus come from world-class chefs, ranging from Italian-themed pasta nights — where you can pile your plate high with cheese — to decadent eight-course meals with seafood and meats, perfect for receptions that last long into the night. Each course is crafted with care, and my favorites included fresh scallop ceviche, succulent steak, and of course, rich chocolate mousse that left every guest wanting more.

Aruba’s impeccable weather year-round means you could host your wedding in December and still enjoy tropical sunshine without a hint of rain. The island also lies outside the hurricane belt, making summer weddings possible for May and June brides. Another standout is the resort’s location right on the beach, giving you the freedom to host a ceremony on the sand and then migrate to the hotel’s veranda for a poolside reception. JOIA personalizes each wedding to the bride and groom’s vision — from décor and music to plate settings and altar design — giving couples full creative control.

Of course, the swim-up suite is the best way to end the night, with the sparkling stars overhead keeping you company. After a late-night swim, you can sink into the king bed and wake up to room service with your new spouse the next morning. It’s the little touches that really sold me on JOIA Aruba by Iberostar: plush bathrobes that fit snug and cozy all day, a thoughtfully placed makeup mirror by the bed for last-minute touchups, and handwritten postcards from guest services checking in each day to ensure you’re having a lovely stay.

I quickly found myself calling this resort home during my week there — learning the names of every server and bartender, and clinking glasses day and night with new friends. While the food was outstanding, the service is what pushed this resort over the top for me. I never had to wait for a cocktail, and the staff went above and beyond to satisfy my every whim — and trust me, I’m a picky eater. The last memory I have of JOIA Aruba is sitting on a wooden swing at Marea, one of the hotel’s restaurants, watching the sunset fade quietly behind me.

As a bride, this would be the place I’d escape to, knowing that no matter how stressful the day might be, I’d have my own slice of paradise at JOIA Aruba. The hotel is currently open for wedding and honeymoon bookings, and we highly recommend reserving at least a year in advance, as the venue is filling quickly. Booking early also ensures you can secure your preferred hair and makeup artists, along with the photographer and videographer of your choice. JOIA is deeply committed to making your vision a reality — the more time you give their event and wedding planning team, the better.

If you're like me and have had a Pinterest mood board for the big day, rest easy knowing that JOIA Aruba will make your vision a possibility. The 5-star resort is the one place I know I'd love to host my wedding — and trust me, as someone who's been to 40+ countries and stayed all over the world, I don't say this easily. Don't wait, book now and bring your happily ever after to life in Aruba.
